Hour 1 1.Participants are invited to share their HW slide with each other in a pair and share (facilitators are walking around looking and conferring with participants and finding 5 slides to project)
2.After 15 minutes, the facilitators choose 5 slides to project to the class with unique characteristics to highlight classroom success
3.“How did they do that?” Project a slide with these three functions:
a.A text box covered with a shape
b.A picture
c.A color background
4.Breakdown the slide by demonstrating how the slide was created - Discuss layers.
5.Participants will spend 15 minutes recreating a slide with those 3 characteristics
6.Choose two to demonstrate to class Hour 2-3 1.Begin with discussion on interactivity.
a.What is it?
b.How can it enhance student engagement?
c.When does an interactive whiteboard loose its functionality?
d.How are lessons created that are both student centered, teacher driven with interactivity?
2.Project a slide that has a theme
3.Break down the techniques that went in to create the slide: pictures, text, color, grouping, order
4.Now demonstrate locking in place and the need to group- the words need to be attached to the apples. When the apple moves we want to words to move with them
5.Duplicate the slide 5 times to begin building the template for the "Apple soft a" theme lesson
6.Begin adding lesson to slides, saving after each slide and discussing that the purpose is to teach XYZ but there is interactivity and student engagement
7.Participants will spend 45 minutes creating 5 slides based on a theme with the following criteria: (post criteria for class to see)
a.Color Background
b.Pictures both locked and unlocked
c.Duplication of slides
d.A lesson with interactivity
e.Student engagement
8.Facilitators are conferring with participants while they create their slides, offering suggestions and helpful tips
9.Students pair and share conducting their lessons for each other, some teams may use the presenters station and use the actual smartboard
2.Facilitator runs through the lesson with the various animations built in.
3.Facilitator then breaks down the slide showing step by step directions for creating animation.
4.When is too much animation a distraction?
5.Participants now create a 5 slide lesson with the following criteria:
a.Animation
b.Color
c.Pictures
d.Duplication
e.Locked items
f.Unlocked item g. grouping
h. order 6.Facilitators are conferring with participants while they create their slides, offering suggestions and helpful tips
7.Students pair and share conducting their lessons for each other, some teams may use the presenters station and use the actual smartboard Hour 5 1.Facilitators go review all components learned so far.
2.Participants pair and share for 10 minutes the items they will used most often and ones that in their subject may not be as useful

6.How and where are they saved to your computer?
7.Participants spend 15 minutes searching templates and discovering the many pre designed lessons available
8.Participants share the lessons they found Conclusion question: Each participant is invited to share one highlight from today’s class and one item they are looking forward to.
Homework assignment: Using smart notebook software, create a lesson that has the following criteria: Start with a template and as the lesson continues and different items to personalize the lesson using the techniques covered in todays class. Save to USB drive and bring in for next class.
